Tucker Carlson’s Role In The Dominion Voting Systems Case

Carlson is known for his views that diverge from the mainstream of American politics. In addition, it is known that he sometimes expressed racist and separatist views as he was criticized by some quarters.

There is no clear information about Tucker Carlson‘s reason for leaving Fox News. However, Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson agreed to part ways after a $787 settlement for Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit. It is also known that Tucker Carlson was criticized by some for voicing a theory called “replacement theory” in April.

Tucker Carlson’s special program specifically on the January 6 attack on the US Capitol led to the resignation of two Fox News commentators. Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg have left Fox News. Also, Tucker Carlson’s political views are known to have been repeatedly exposed to anti-immigrant and racist comments that have caused his program to lose many of its major advertisers.

Tucker Carlson was born on May 16, 1969 in San Francisco. He is best known as an American conservative political commentator, author and television personality. He hosted Tucker Carlson Tonight, the night’s political talk show, on Fox News from 2016 to 2023.

Fox News and right-wing extremist Tucker Carlson were cut off by the network, which made a stunning statement Saturday that shook the media and political worlds. “We thank him for his contributions before and as presenter,” Fox News made a brief statement, noting that Carlson’s last show was on Friday, April 21. However, the statement did not offer an explanation for his firing. Carlson, as the highest-ranked presenter on Fox News, did not respond to multiple requests for comment. However, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, it was stated that the decision to fire him was notified on Monday morning.

The announcement comes a week after Fox News settled its massive libel lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million over the spread of election lies. The case concerned Carlson’s humiliation of his colleagues. A lawsuit filed in March by Abby Grossberg, the now laid-off top bookstore, also included allegations of sexism on her program.

During his tenure as prime time presenter at Fox News, Carlson became one of the most influential figures within the GOP. As Republican legislatures fell at his feet, former President Donald Trump gave him his first interview this month after his hearing in New York.

Tucker Carlson has established himself as a leading advocate of conspiracy theories and radical rhetoric in recent years. As it constantly sows seeds of doubt about the legitimacy of the 2020 elections, it has also spread conspiracy theories about Covid-19 vaccines and raised white nationalist talking points. Jonathan Greenblatt, head of the Anti-Defamation League, praised Fox News’ decision and said “it’s about time”, saying that “Carlson has long used his primetime show to spread antisemitic, racist, xenophobic and LGBTQ hate to millions.”

Inside Fox News, some Carlson internal critics were delighted to hear the news, as they told CNN. But it’s unlikely that Fox News’ loyal viewers will stray too far from the right-wing talks he tunes in every night. For now, the network said Carlson will fill the 8 o’clock time slot with spinning servers. Shares of Fox Corp. (FOXA) fell 5% after the news. The stock had risen slightly prior to the announcement.

I just learned that Fox News has parted ways with Tucker Carlson. Carlson was a key figure in the massive libel lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems, which the parties settled in a $787 million settlement last week. Of the 20 defamatory broadcasts alleged in the lawsuit, only one came from Carlson’s most-watched show. However, Carlson was preparing to testify as one of the Dominion’s first witnesses. His private messages, which were made public as part of the lawsuit, revealed that Carlson was in stark contrast to his on-air personality.

Carlson’s private messages include a group chat with Fox’s fellow primetime stars Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham. Also, even as these savage theories were aired on Fox News, pro-Trump used misogynistic terms to criticize attorney Sidney Powell and dismissed Powell’s conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

For the past two years since the Capitol attack, the Fox primetime host has used paper-thin theories on its grand platform that the attack was a false flag operation orchestrated by the FBI and government agents out of hatred of Trump. The unfounded theory originated on a right-wing website, and Carlson has brought it into the mainstream by repeatedly featuring it in his program. He has often implied that Capitol rebel and Trump supporter Ray Epps, who was involved in the incident, was actually the FBI provocateur who started the deadly riot.
